MY ROLE AS YOUR DOULA

“If a woman doesn’t look  like a goddess during labour, then someone isn’t treating her right” Ina May Gaskin

I believe that the right doula is out there for everyone and my approach is very much a holistic and person-centred one. Every birthing person is unique - I want to ensure you are supported, nurtured and empowered in the best way that works for you.

My goal as your doula is to make you feel confident, relaxed and in your power throughout pregnancy, birth and the transition to motherhood. It’s perfectly normal to find things difficult, to be exhausted or to question yourself, that is what I am here for - to listen, to support you in your choices, to help with your birth plan and preparations, to hold space and assist you through labour, to hold your baby while you and your partner get some sleep, to help with breastfeeding, whatever you need to feel supported and cared for as you discover your role as a mother, whether this is your first time or not. I am here to provide you with the emotional and/or physical support you need.

The birth of your baby is your story to write. It is not my desire to take away from the role of your partner, but to create a space where you can both be completely present in the moment, reassured and confident in your roles and abilities. In this way, I can also offer your partner practical suggestions which may help you during labour and am happy to listen to any concerns or questions they may have too.

Giving birth and becoming a mother is an incredibly empowering experience and I feel honoured to work with those making this transition and supporting them every step of the way. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to meet up for a no obligations tea and to chat further to see if we might be the right fit.
